STORE CREDIT FOR USED BOOKS!
We offer reimbursement for gently-used books exclusively in the form of a credit toward other purchases at FAB.
Our policies are based on the system many small bookstores use to stay vital and well- stocked, and we welcome your participation.
Depending on the quality of and demand for the books you bring in, you will receive between 25−35% of our price for them in credit toward other purchases.
We credit according to the current market value of the book; top-quality titles will receive maximum credit; lesser-quality items realize less than that based on condition, demand, and our current inventory.
You can apply your trade credit in two ways: 100% of the purchase price of used books (excluding special orders of used books and books from our small Rare/Collectible section)
50% of the purchase price of new books, including special orders (with the remaining 50% paid in cash.)
Trade credit cannot be applied toward the purchase of magazines, merchandise or consignment goods.
Your credit is stored in our point-of-sale system and is good as long as we're in business!
WHAT KIND OF BOOKS DO WE TAKE?
We accept books only in VERY GOOD to EXCELLENT condition. Please don’t bring us books that are heavily underlined, musty, dirty, moldy, falling apart, pet
hair-infested, or just generally yucky. We look for:
WE DON'T TAKE:
WHEN & HOW DO WE TAKE THEM
We accept used books on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Please bring no more than 25 books at a time (no more than twice a week) and plan to be in the store for 15 minutes while we look through your books, as we might need to assist other customers as well.
We determine which books we can take (based on current inventory and demand, among other factors) and their in-store price (based on current market value) and issue you a credit,
usually in about a week. There may be times, depending on how many books are flowing in, that it takes up to two weeks, but we'll try to warn you when that will be the case!
We have extremely limited space, so books cannot be dropped off for assessment. You are responsible for taking back any books we can't use, and we encourage you to donate
them to local libraries, schools or other nonprofits for their fundraisers.
If you live on at a great distance from the store, and find that you're never able to make it to us on the days we accept books,
we might make an exception for you provided you contact us (via email or phone) at least two days in advance of your planned visit and we agree to arrange an exception.
